These are extremely distressing reports and show a company which has completely failed in its duty to provide the best possible care to NHS patients - Justin Madders

labourpress:

Justin Madders MP, Labour’s Shadow Health Minister, commenting on the investigation into the non-urgent transport services provided by Coperforma in Sussex, said:

“These are extremely distressing reports and show a company which has completely failed in its duty to provide the best possible care to NHS patients.

“It’s utterly unacceptable that seriously ill patients are missing hospital appointments or elderly patients are getting stuck in hospital because of the failure of this company to do its job properly. The fact that the company are refusing to say how many patients have been affected raises serious questions about its competence and the way this contract has been managed.

“Hundreds, or potentially thousands, of patients and family members have been affected by this shambles. We need an urgent response from the Government about how this situation was allowed to happen and what they intend to do about it.”
